Best time to visit Chopta
Ridgeview Camp is open all 12 months of the year. Each season at Chopta is different.
- March to April
- Rhododendron (buransh) flowers bloom along the road and trail. Days are pleasant and nights are cold. Snow may still be on the higher trail in early March.
- May to June
- Warm days and cool nights. This is the busiest season, so book early for weekends.
- July to September
- Monsoon. The hills are green, but there can be landslides on the roads and the trail gets slippery. Clouds often hide the peaks.
- October to November
- Clear skies and the best mountain views of the year. Nights get very cold by November.
- December to February
- Snow season. Very cold nights, and the road can close after heavy snowfall. The trail can be walked in snow only when it is safe, so ask us about conditions first.
Tungnath temple doors usually close for winter around October or November and open again around April or May. In winter the puja is held at Makkumath. Exact dates are announced every year.
